How does laser hair removal work?
Laser removes the hair by a process called selective photothermolysis. The light energy from the laser is transferred into thermal energy in the hair follicle, with the laser energy targeting melanin, the pigmented region in the hair follicle. Heat from the laser is absorbed by the melanin in the hair resulting in the follicle being destroyed.
Living in Northland it was really important I not only invest in the best machine, but choose a machine that allowed me to treat darker skin tones.
What machine do you use and why?
I use the Gentle Max Pro by Candela who are global leaders in laser hair removal.This machine is also the same machine the Kardashians use!
This machine offers two wavelengths, the 755nm and 1064 nm, which simply means I can safely and effectively treat ALL skin tones.

The 755nm is used for lighter skin tones, targeting pigment and treating superficially.

The 1064nm is a deeper wave length, making the treatment SAFE for darker skin tones that are prone to burning, scarring or hyper pigmenting. ⠀
Cryogen Cooling
I choose cryogen canisters over continuous cold air (that the cheaper clinics use). Basically, cryogen cools right down to -60 degrees and provides more pain relief vs the Zimmer cooling machines that have a continuous air flow ( -24 degrees).⠀
